Jim Lake Companies will forever be associated with the extraordinary urban renewal of the Bishop Arts District. At the beginning of 1985, Jim Lake Sr. and Mike Morgan began buying and re-developing properties at this once vibrant 1920's trolley stop. When asked of Jim Lake Sr.'s decision to buy the run-down properties he replied, "I just thought it needed saving." Since then Jim Lake Companies, with the help of the City of Dallas, has left a legacy of making good things happen for this unique community.
The Bishop Arts District is now home to a collection of home décor stores, clothing boutiques and eclectic restaurants. The vibrant, creative tenants have also played a major role in giving Bishop Arts back its old Texas charm. Jim Lake Companies looks forward to continuing to be a strong influence in this unique Oak Cliff redevelopment.
